Here’s how I see it. Imagine you are on a giant shopping spree. The more of life that you can grab as you sprint through the aisles, the better. Get everything you need as you run throughout the superstore. 3… 2… 1… Time’s up! How much did you get? What now? That’s the notes part. Powerful tools like Evernote’s Web Clipper, email feature, and add-ons like IFTTT make it easy to capture absolutely every part of your life into one place. What’s next?
I was listening to a recent episode of The Productivityist Podcast where host, Mike Vardy interviewed Mridu Parikh from Life is Organized. Mridu has a strategy using “Sunday Baskets” to manage all the incoming tasks you gather through mail and your week. I have one of those too, but with the advent of online bill pay, I rarely clean out my basket. When I finally get to it, I find months of letters and notifications. I have to plan an evening of envelope opening to get everything into the right piles or the waste basket to keep things managed. Imagine if I had some kind of magnificent sorting machine. I just dump out my basket, and the other end of this magical device files and labels my envelopes just how I need them. There’s even a priority folder with coordinating calendar appointments to help me know what I need to do next.
That’s what Evernote is for me. The reason: that’s what I needed. I didn’t need a notes app. I didn’t need a pseudo CRM or an alternative file server. There are a ton of ways people use Evernote, but I want to focus on the special way Evernote has become indispensable to my life. That’s what you’ll find here.
And how do I use Evernote?
I use Evernote Premium. I’ll explain all the reasons why in the future, but you’ll find this site to be a helpful resource first for Premium users. Business accounts and other individual Evernote uses will find this helpful still because many of the tips I’ll share will work no matter the version, but it’s important to understand WHY I use Premium. For me, Evernote is the most beneficial as it helps me to navigate my personal life no matter where I am and no matter what device I’m using. There are powerful tools to bring a business together or to use the basics of Evernote on a single device, but for the tips I’ll be sharing, you’ll get maximum benefit if you see this as the special way you live and plan your day.
Understand too, I use Evernote as the hub for everything I know I want to accomplish. It’s the brain for all of my data, my planning, my calendar, and my day. So, although it is my note app of choice, the reason is because I can make that note actionable, schedule-able, then archived for reference all in one connected space so I know I’ve accomplished my goal with that piece of information, and can find it whenever I need it in the future.
This isn’t a GTD site. This isn’t even a productivity site. It’s a resource for managing your time and your life. It’s more than Evernote too. I’ll share added tools to make things easier for you to accomplish your goals. Beyond technology, I’ll talk about some important ideas about your time and knowing how to be the best you can be.
I hope you find this site helpful. I’d love to learn from you or take some time personally with you to coach you to effective life management. Always know you can reach out to chat and take your next steps.
I hope this helps set the stage for things to come. Share, ask questions, or reach out if you have thoughts. I’d love to hear more how we can make this helpful for as many people as possible.
